Description
The Gothic Line was the last bulwark of German defense, in order to stop the advance of the Allies at the end of the Second World War. Between La Spezia and Pesaro there were 479 cannon, 2.375 machine guns, 100 thousand mines and 3.604 trenches. When the Gothic Line on the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines was broken and Anglo-Americans didn’t take advantage of that success, the front had an irregular shape, creating the “Linea Gensis Khan”. Between November 1943 and March 1944 Hitler had lots of forts on the coast built. He thought that the Allied landing could happen on the coast between Ravenna and Venice. The story tells, that the landing was accomplished by Anzio on 22 January 1944. The territory of Comacchio and its valleys were an important crossroads during the Second World War. Partisans on boats, men of valleys, pursuits and war heroes were the real protagonists of this conflict. We will travel through time to discover together the paths crossed by Allied soldiers, partesans and German troops in the Second World War. Even today you can see bunkers, barricades and anti-tanks. A land full of charm, in a beautiful and sometimes wild nature and breathtaking landscapes. Most of all, it tells the stories of brave men and women who fought for their life and freedom.
